This walk takes you around Korission Lake with its tracks, beaches, sand dunes and grassy footpaths to Issos and through the village of Linia. It is an open walk and can be very hot. It is advisable to take plenty of water to drink. Included in the time was two 30 minute breaks to rest and picnic.
The walk starts at Korission Lake . Park beside the road at the Taverna Nikolas.
Walk down passing the lake heading towards the sea and turn left along the rough coast road keeping the sea on the right. Carry on along this road until you reach a fish farm and a wooden bridge. Cross this wooden bridge and turn left and then take the track off to the right soon reaching the lake. Walk along the edge of the lake for a few minutes before taking the sandy track off to the right between bushes to eventually reach the open sand dunes. After a couple of minutes bear right through the sand dunes heading north north west towards the sea and Issos Beach.
Turn left and walk along the beach for approximately 20 minutes. You then walk along the boarding and head left off of the beach through the large car parking area. Head along the rough unmade road soon turning to tarmac passing a snack bar/cafe on the left to reach the outskirts of Linia. After a right hand bend turn left up a tarmac road through Linia.
Soon after a little hut on the left turn left down a track and after a couple of minutes turn right at a junction. There are views of Korission lake on the left through the olive trees. On reaching a junction turn right along a grassy track and then on reaching a main T junction turn left down a wider track and on reaching a property on the corner to the right turn right and keep to the main track. Ignore a turning off to the left and carry on ascending slightly around a left hand bend to descend once again ignoring any left turns. There is a view on the left of the lake approximately 200 metres away and in the distance you can see the wooden bridge that you crossed over earlier.
Carry on to reach a crossroads of tracks and go straight over and at the next junction turn right now ascending to reach another junction where you turn left and start to descend. There are views of the lake in front of you. Carry on along this track passing big green buildings on the left and ignoring a turn to the left. At the next junction take the left turn and carry on keeping the lake in view on the left hand side. Carry on down with the lake now ahead of you passing a tin shed on the right. Just before a left hand bend take a small footpath off to the right next to an olive tree crossing over a pipe in the ground. (If you carry on going down the track you can reach a clearing next to the lake. We had our picnic here and then retraced our steps back to the footpath.) Take this grassy footpath beside the olive trees to join a track and here turn right and follow it along and around to the left descending to another track where you turn right. Follow this track to another junction and turn right again soon following this track around to the left. On the right hand side is a church amongst the olive trees and on the right in front of you a view of Aghios Matheos mountain. On a right hand bend you reach a main junction and here you turn right ascending slightly and then descending slightly passing a tin shed on the right. When you reach a sign “Villa Zara” turn left down the track beside the wire fence passing a white villa on the left with a satellite dish on the roof. Carry on to the end of the track passing a couple of villas to the left and right through the shade of the olive trees. Turn off right opposite a green gate passing by grape vines and a house on the right hand side (with the lake in front of you) until you reach a junction and turn left. At the next junction turn right and walk with the lake on your left back to the start of the walk.
