Zizyphus is the name of  our house that we own on the Greek Island of Corfu. It is in a village in the area south of Corfu town. We have been spending our holidays in Greece for the passed 30 years and have visited and travelled around (normally  by foot) a numerous number of Greek Islands (although there are still plenty  more for us to visit)  and consider Greece to be our second home.

Having spent several holidays in Corfu and it being only a three hour flight away from the UK we decided that this is the Island on which we wish to make our second home.

Corfu has so much to offer with its beautiful  scenery, it being one of  the most green  and fertile islands that we have visited.  There are many  wonderful walks, plenty of wildlife to see and   flowers and fungi in abundance, not forgetting  the  lovely  beaches  that give you the choice  to sunbathe , swim, snorkel, fish  and to windsurf. Also  there are many traditional villages to explore, not forgetting the towns of Lefkimmi & Corfu Town.

    Walking in Corfu

We found the most detailed map of  Corfu to be  The Road Editions 1:60,000 Corfu (Kerkyra) but it  is still not accurate enough. We also found the German map Reise Know-How Verlag 1:65,000 Korfu to be very useful as it has latitude and longitude  and contour lines on it.  Our GPS readings have been incorporated in with our walks and map pages to help any of  you enthusiastic walkers that own a GPS to navigate around our walks. Although, if you do not own a GPS  we still consider the walks  easy to follow.

The maps on this site have been constructed by downloading tracklogs from a Magellan GPS and using GPS Trackmaker software to construct the map.
