Issos Beach - Aghios Georgios   Map

This walk takes you along Issos beach and through Aghios Georgios  to pick up tracks  both open and through olive groves  before joining the road back to Issos beach.

Take the road to Issos Beach off of the main Moraitika/ Lefkimmi road. Where the tarmac road ends park at the side of the sandy track opposite the Korission Lake track.

        

Walk south along the track to the beach. On reaching the beach turn left and walk along the beach to Aghios Georgios passing a large holiday complex and Teddies and Bessies supermarket on the left. Leave the beach by the Queen’s restaurant and turn right along the road through the resort passing the harbour.

               

Carry straight along the resort road passing La Perle Chill Out on the left hand side. When you come to a children’s playground and a church on the right turn left along a quiet tarmac road with a palm tree on the right. This small road winds around passing apartment buildings and houses and then  on the right hand side good open views of the hills. Continue to an electricity pole, with a light on it, at a left hand bend.

             

At this bend carry straight on up a track ahead of you passing through small holdings, where we took a photo of a huge Gourd, and a few houses dotted around. On reaching a junction turn left along the track with olive trees on the right hand side. Carry straight on through the olives ignoring a track to the left and passing a white house on the left until you come to another junction. Here bear left and carry on along this concrete track to reach the main road.

              

On reaching the main road turn right and carry on along this to reach a left and a right hand bend. At this bend turn off left down a track next to the Sebastion restaurant bar sign. You pass a well on the right in the olive grove and carry on the track through the olives, ignoring any turn to the left. You then pass a ditch on the right with a little water in it where we found some Terrapins sunbathing. Carry on past a house on the left to reach a tarmac road.

             

Turn right along this road soon passing the Monastery of Pantokrator on the right and a small road on the left to “Jimmy’s”. Carry straight on passing by village houses to reach a junction. Just after the STOP sign at the junction turn left by the Korission Lake signpost and pass the Aquarius Grill Room Taverna on the left hand side. .Follow this road back to Issos Beach and the start.
