Places where we enjoy eating out
Moraitika/Messongi
Situated in Old Moraitika is the Tassos Village Grill that we found to be very nice and friendly. The food is very good with a good selection of Greek dishes , grilled meats and fresh fish and all at reasonable prices.
Up a small alley off of Moraitika main street is the Rose garden a good standard of mainly Greek food with friendly service set in a courtyard.
At the southern end of Messongi up the road opposite the bus shelter is Minore. This is a favourite of ours as it serves good reasonably priced food with an extensive menu and it is very popular. Harry the owner is most welcoming and very friendly, he always remembers everyone and what have eaten on previous visits.
At the southern end of Messongi seafront is Bacchus. Good reasonably priced food is served including excellent fish. It is well frequented by Greeks and tourists alike.
Situated on the road to Hlomos approx 1km up the hill out of Messongi in the village of Kato Spileo is the 75 Steps. The taverna is on the top floor of holiday apartments. There are 75 steps up to the taverna (also a lift) and from here there are lovely views overlooking the coast and surrounding area. Food on the menu is varied with a good choice of Greek starters and main meals. www.75steps.com
Archontiko (The Mansion) is situated up in the village of Chlomatiana and is well worth a visit especially if you want a more upmarket meal and setting. The extensive menu serves up quality 5 star food which is plentiful and reasonably priced. You are made most welcome by Akis and his wife (the chef). It has been voted number 1 restaurant out of 815 in Corfu by reviews on Trip advisor www.facebook.com/archontikocorfu
Chlomatiana
Boukari bay
The Boukari Beach restaurant we also like. It is also good for fresh fish and a selection of traditional Greek food. It is owned and run by the Vlachopoulos family who also own the local Penelope Hotel .It also caters for weddings and parties.and also has the occasional Greek night. The two brothers Kostas and Sofokles are most welcoming. www.boukaribeach.gr
The Akrogiali taverna served us up tasty grilled Souvlaki.
The Potamaki taverna is situated right on the waters edge and is a nice setting to while away an evening.
The Sunset Hotel restaurant overlooking the harbour is one of our favourites as they serve a variety of traditional Greek food which is very good. It is a family owned and run and they are all most welcoming. www.goldensunsetcorfu.gr
Petriti
The Lymnopulas taverna is very good and is situated on the sea front
.
On the main Argirades to Lefkimmi road at the junction to Marathias is the Village taverna. We found this to be very nice serving lovely food. It has a traditional and more extensive menu including different recipes of Greek food. www.thevillagetaverna.gr
Argirades
Up a side street in Argirades is Yannis(Cockerel).A typically Greek grill with a limited menu but the food is very good and plentiful and very reasonably priced. It is open all the year round and is very cosy and welcoming in the winter. Food in the bag is also served as we know it “takeaways”.
Next to the Sunset hotel is the Karadis. This taverna is popular for its fish and is frequented by many Greeks especially on a Sunday.
Situated in old Moratika is the Village taverna . Nikos and his family always make you most welcome. Good food, varied menu and inexpensive. www.facebook.com/thevillagetavernacorfu/
On the coast road out of Notos heading south is Savvas. It serves typically greek dishes and grills at very reasonable prices. It is also open during winter at the weekends. www.tavernasavvascorfu.gr
